Mitesh Patel

Mitesh S. Patel, MD, MBA is Chief Clinical Transformation Officer and System Vice President at Ascension. In this role, Dr. Patel leads the strategic vision and operational execution of national programs to transform clinical care including programs that focus on patient engagement, enhancing clinician performance, improving population health, virtual care, remote patient monitoring and artificial intelligence.

In addition to his role at Ascension, Dr. Patel is an Adjunct Professor at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he has taught an MBA course on ‘The Digital Transformation of Health Care’ for over a decade. Before Ascension, he was a tenured professor at Penn Medicine, where he founded and led the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, the world’s first behavioral design team embedded within the operations of a health system.

Dr. Patel is a regular keynote speaker and has been recognized with national awards from leading health care organizations. His research has been published in NEJM, JAMA, Nature, PNAS and other leading journals, and his work has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, and The Wall Street Journal.
